2.0 ELECTRIC LOCOMOTIVE:
2.1 Electric Loco Sheds
There are two Electric Loco Sheds in NCR-
2.1.1Electric Loco Shed, Kanpur:
The Electric Loco Shed, Kanpur was established in 1965 with the Electrification of Mughalsarai-Kanpur section. The shed started functioning with a meager holding of 11 imported WAM-1 type locomotives for Passenger services. Present holding of the shed is 176 locomotives (40-WAP4, 132-WAG7 & 4-WAM4).
2.1.2 Electric Loco Shed, Jhansi:
Electric Loco Shed, Jhansi designed for a holding of 100 locos was established in 1987 with an initial holding of 17 locos. Present holding of the shed is 176 locomotives i.e. 73 WAG7 ( 24 BHEL & 49 CLW built) and 103 WAG5 (74 BHEL & 29 CLW built) locomotives.
